The English Intensive Program

The English Intensive Program at uOttawa is designed to help you learn language skills, academic abilities, and intercultural knowledge. It will make you succeed in your program of study as well as in your future career. You'll be given tools to better understand and communicate ideas with others. You'll benefit from many opportunities to practise your English with your peers.

Accelerated Academic Bridging in English (ESL 0140)

The Accelerated Academic Bridging in English course will help you make a smooth transition from high school to university in Canada. With our carefully designed curriculum, you’ll strengthen your academic language skills and gain confidence to tackle the challenges of university life.

uOttawa English Experience Program

The uOttawa English Experiencesummer program focuses on practicing English through participation. Students will develop their language skills and acquire intercultural communication skills for everyday life. During the 3- , 4- or 7-week program, you’ll be fully immersed in an English-speaking environment in Canada’s capital.

Express Pathway Program

The Express Pathway Program offers you the opportunity to participate in an innovative admissions program through the combination of customized testing and highly effective English language training to support your admission into undergraduate programs at the University of Ottawa.

Cultural and Academic Language Immersion (CALI)

The Cultural and Academic Language Immersion winter program provides a well-rounded education in English that equips you with the skills, knowledge and cultural exposure to thrive in academic and real-world settings. During this 4-week program, you’ll be immersed in an English-speaking environment in Canada’s capital city. By the end of the program, you’ll be a confident English communicator, ready to succeed in the globalized world.

The next offering of this program is scheduled for February 2025.

Intermediate French for the Workplace

Gain the skills to communicate effectively in French in a professional context. The Intermediate French for the Workplace program focuses on oral communication and vocabulary acquisition.
