Each year, many students from Mexico come to the University of Ottawa for a Canadian degree. They come because of the reputation the Canadian education system enjoys, and in particular, because of the University of Ottawa’s unique multicultural and bilingual (English and French) environment.

Located in the heart of Canada’s capital, the University of Ottawa offers the best of both worlds: students can live and study in French or English and still have the opportunity to become fully bilingual.

If you are an applicant originally from Mexico currently studying in a Canadian institution, please select your current or last school system for information specific to your profile.

  • Have obtained, or be in the process of obtaining, your bachillerato.
  • Have earned a minimum average of 8/10 (requirements might be higher depending on the program of study you select)
  • Have completed or be in the process of completing the prerequisites (See “1. Prepare to apply”) for the program of your choice. Unless otherwise indicated, you must complete all prerequisites in your senior year of the bachillerato.
  • Submit an English proficiency test if you are applying for a program offered in English.

Space is limited and admission is competitive and not guaranteed. We reserve the right to deny admission even if an applicant meets all requirements.

If you are currently studying in a French lycée or studying another recognized curriculum  such as the International Baccalaureate,  GCE curriculum or an American-patterned curriculum, see our information specific to your situation.

If you have completed — or even just started — postsecondary studies and you meet the following conditions, you can be considered for admission to an undergraduate program. You must:

  • Have a minimum average of 70% (or higher depending on the program of study you select).
  • Have completed or be in the process of completing the prerequisites (See “1. Prepare to apply”) required for the program of your choice. Unless otherwise indicated, you must complete all prerequisites in your senior year of the bachillerato or at the postsecondary level.
  • Submit an English proficiency test if you are applying for a program offered in English.

You must ensure that you meet the minimum admission requirements before applying. If you have any questions about admission requirements, contact InfoAdmission.

Once you have submitted your application and received your acknowledgment of receipt, you can submit your documents in uoZone. If you are currently in your classe terminale, submit the following documents:

  • Transcript from the three trimesters of classe première
  • Transcript of results from the first trimester of your classe terminale

If you have already graduated, submit the following documents:

  • Baccalauréat results

Eligibility

Advanced standing (credit transfer)

If you have completed some postsecondary courses, you will be evaluated based on them, even if you are applying for an undergraduate program.

We may grant you advanced standing (i.e., transfer your credits), depending on the program to which you apply. Faculties that grant advanced standing will base their decision on the discipline, the courses you have completed and the length of your studies.
