If you are an applicant originally from Mexico currently studying in a Canadian institution, please select your current or last school system for information specific to your profile.
Mexico
Each year, many students from Mexico come to the University of Ottawa for a Canadian degree. They come because of the reputation the Canadian education system enjoys, and in particular, because of the University of Ottawa’s unique multicultural and bilingual (English and French) environment.
Located in the heart of Canada’s capital, the University of Ottawa offers the best of both worlds: students can live and study in French or English and still have the opportunity to become fully bilingual.

Minimum admission requirements
If you are applying from a secondary school, you must meet the following conditions to be considered for admission to an undergraduate program:
- Have obtained, or be in the process of obtaining, your bachillerato.
- Have earned a minimum average of 8/10 (requirements might be higher depending on the program of study you select)
- Have completed or be in the process of completing the prerequisites (See “1. Prepare to apply”) for the program of your choice. Unless otherwise indicated, you must complete all prerequisites in your senior year of the bachillerato.
- Submit an English proficiency test if you are applying for a program offered in English.
Space is limited and admission is competitive and not guaranteed. We reserve the right to deny admission even if an applicant meets all requirements.
If you are currently studying in a French lycée or studying another recognized curriculum such as the International Baccalaureate, GCE curriculum or an American-patterned curriculum, see our information specific to your situation.
Required documents
Once you have submitted your application and received your acknowledgment of receipt, you can submit your documents in uoZone. If you are currently in your final year of secondary studies, submit the following documents:
- Transcript from the three trimesters of last three years of secondary studies
- Transcript of results from the first trimester of your final year

Prerequisite courses
Language requirements
Courses at the University of Ottawa are given in English, French, or both languages. You must master one of the two languages to be admitted.
If you’re applying for an English-language program and have not completed at least three years of full-time study in an institution where English is the only language of instruction (except for language courses), in a country where English is an official language, you must submit your official score after taking one of the language tests recognized by the University.
