All TMM students need to complete a total of 6 course units (2 courses) of electives. These are courses outside of the TMM program from any other Faculty. If you are admitted with more than 60 course units this could mean that you do not need to complete these electives courses in the TMM program. The amount of course units that exceed 60 can be applied as elective courses.

For example, a student admitted with 63 course units only needs to complete 3 course units of electives in the TMM program. A student admitted with 66 course units does not need to complete any electives.

Please be aware that if you have already completed a degree, outside of the 2 elective course units, we cannot use these units towards the other degree.

The waitlist is based on registration priority. Unfortunately, being on the waitlist does not guarantee being enrolled. Every course at the University of Ottawa has a course capacity which is based on programs. This means that certain students in a certain program may have registration priority since this course is mandatory or optional for their program.

The swap function is a very useful tool which can be used by students. The goal of the swap function is to tell the system to drop X course if a seat becomes available in Y course. This means that you can add yourself to a waitlist and if a seat becomes available in that course, the system will drop the other course that you have identified.

Please note that it is the student's responsibility to program this correctly in the enrolment.

The Academic Advisement Report is a tool found in your uoZone under the applications. The application itself is called My Academic Requirements.

The academic requirement application will show you what you need to complete in your program requirements in order to graduate.

We noticed that some courses may not count towards your program requirement when these should in fact count. Please be aware that we are working on this.

This is a course or an academic activity which occurs on multiple terms. The activity is to be continued until a final grade is obtained of completion.

For example, the course ''TMM3009 - Biomedical Research Laboratory'' is a course which takes place during two consecutive terms. Students will receive a final grade of CTN for the fall term and will receive a final grade in the winter term once the course is completed.

This is based on the amount of course units per term. In order to be considered full-time, you must have a minimum of 12 course units or more.

Please be aware that some courses or activities in TMM have different unit values.

For example, the course ''TMM4012 - Honours Research Project'' is worth a total of 12 course units. This means that you obtain 6 course units in the fall and 6 course units in the winter. We also have courses which are ''Advanced methods'' which are worth 1.5 course units. Please be mindful of this when registering to courses.

This can be caused by multiple reasons. Here are some of these reasons:

• The course is full
• The course does not have any available seats for your program or students outside of that faculty
• You have reached the maximum allowed units per term
• This course causes a time conflict with another course (course is offered at the same time)

As a best practice, you can always add yourself to the waitlist. However, please note that being on the waitlist does not guarantee being enrolled.

If you are enrolled to the maximum amount of units allowed in one term, you'll need to program a swap function. Please refer to the Swap function FAQ above for more details.

It is important to note that additional seats cannot be added if you are trying to take this course outside of your program requirements.

As a TMM student, you'll need to present a poster (poster day) of your data and research.

Courses such as ''TMM4012 - Honours Research Project'' for undergraduate students or ''TMM5900 - Research Project'' for integrated TMM-MSc or PhD program require a poster presentation as one of the important course component. Students will be evaluated on this poster day.

Unfortunately no, this is not possible.

The TMM program structure does not allow any major or minor combination. This applies to both the undergraduate TMM program and the integrated TMM-MSc and PhD program.

Unfortunately no. Students in the TMM program (both the BSc and the integrated BSc/MSc or PhD program) do not offer any exchange program opportunities.

A Stipend is a fixed sum paid by the supervisor while students are working in their research laboratory. The stipend only applies to students who are in the integrated TMM program (BSc-MSc and PhD). It does not apply to students in the BSc only option.

The Stipend occurs in the spring-summer for all 3rd year integrated TMM students. During this period, students will be working in a laboratory. It also occurs for all 4th year integrated TMM students as of the spring-summer and through out the graduate studies duration which is 1 year for the MSc and 4 years for the PhD. For more information regarding the important steps and milestones required in the integrated TMM program, please consult our Milestone website.

Please note: The Stipend only applies to the MSc or PhD with thesis option. The thesis option is the only option offered in the TMM program.

If you are eligible to graduate, you will receive an invitation email from the Registrar. Once you receive this email, you will be able to apply for the upcoming convocation in your uoZone under the application tab. The application itself is called Apply for graduation. Once you apply, you will be able to track your graduation status in your Student centre.

Please note that you won't be able to apply for the upcoming until you receive that invitation email.

• Gown and hoods rental for attending the convocation ceremonies
• Schedule and guest tickets
• What to expect the day of the ceremony (parking, photos, location, etc.)

Students in the integrated program in the BSc-MSc or BSc-PhD will obtain both diplomas at the very end of the program.

It is important to note that you will not obtain your undergraduate diploma before the graduate diploma. Both diplomas will be given at the same time when the program is successfully completed.
