The University of Ottawa proudly recognizes the amazing research done by its graduate students. The GRADflix concept was developed by the University of Waterloo in 2018. The University of Ottawa is thankful to have obtained the permission to reproduce the concept and use the content of the University of Waterloo.

uOGRADflix
uOGRADflix is a video competition where uOttawa and Saint Paul University graduate students present their research through an original 60-second video. The competition aims to help graduate students promote their research and develop the ability to communicate effectively.

Participation and submission details
- Complete and submit the online uOGRADflix Participant Registration Form by November 5, 2025.
Send the required material via wetransfer.com, addressed to this email [email protected], by November 12, 2025, at 12 p. m.
You need to include:
- Your video saved as an MP4;720 p or higher. The name of the file should be uOGRADflix_firstname_lastname.
- The script of your video saved as a plain text file, containing only characters and no formatting or styling (*.txt or other) using text editors such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (macOS);
- Title of your video (can be included in the script file);
- Your video must not be longer than 60 seconds;
- Your video must focus on research you conducted during your current program.
- A good quality portrait or headshot photo.
- Your video saved as an MP4;720 p or higher. The name of the file should be uOGRADflix_firstname_lastname.
- Finalists are selected by a panel of judges to compete in the Final Showcase.
- Attend the Final Showcase on January 13, 2026.
- Winners are selected by a panel of judges; the public votes for the People’s Choice Award. Monetary prizes and trophies will be awarded.
