Ontario high school students: Our three admission round process

How we calculate your average:

• We use your best five final grades (3U/3M and 4U/4M).
• For programs with math and science prerequisites, we include at least one math and two science courses in our calculation. We take the highest of 3U/M or 4U/M.
• For programs with math prerequisites, we include all the math grades.
• Depending on the type of academic terms your school has, if your final Grade 12 results are available during this round of offers, we use them if they’re higher than your Grade 11 final grades.

We don’t deny admission during the first round.

How we calculate your average:

• We use six final grades (3U/3M and 4U/4M).
• We use a minimum of two Grade 12 (4U/ 4M) grades.
• We confirm that you’re enrolled in your program prerequisites.
• For programs with math and science prerequisites, we include at least one math and two science courses in our calculation.
• For programs with math prerequisites, we include all math grades in our calculation.

We don’t deny admission during the second round.

How we calculate your average:

• We use six Grade 12 grades (4U/4M, interim or final) and include the prerequisites for your chosen program.
• We must have grades for all the prerequisite courses (interim or final grades).

We send out denials of admission and alternative offers during this round.

After applying through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC), you’ll receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application within one week. This email will contain information on how to log into the uoZone student portal, where you can track the progress of your application in your Admission file.

The timing of our decision depends on several factors, including your grades, the program you’ve applied to and any additional admission requirements, such as a portfolio submission or an audition. If you haven’t received a decision in the first or second round, you can expect to receive a final decision around the end of May.

This means that we’re waiting for the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) to send us your most recent grades. Your school should update OUAC about any changes to your course selection, including e-learning, correspondence or night school courses. Once we receive the required information, we continue evaluating your application.

The first round relies more on Grade 11 results, while later rounds prioritize Grade 12 interim and final grades.

Your application will be automatically reconsidered during each round, as we receive new grades through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).

If you’ve been denied admission after the third round, you can still be reconsidered, but you must contact our office. Only do so if your grades have been updated on OUAC.

Yes. If you don’t meet the co-op requirements, you can still receive an offer for the program without the co-op option.

Keep your grades strong, complete your prerequisites, check uoZone regularly for updates, and submit any required documents as soon as possible.
