Michael Robidoux

Michael Robidoux est un chercheur primé dont le domaine de recherche principal est axé sur les pratiques culturelles autochtones liées à l’activité physique et les pratiques diététiques locales. Il fait partie du Groupe de recherche en santé indigène, une équipe de recherche pluridisciplinaire représentant les domaines de l’ethnologie, de la physiologie, de la biologie, de la toxicologie, de l’immunologie et des sciences de la nutrition. À titre de membre de ce groupe, M. Robidoux dirige les programmes de recherche mis en œuvre au sein des communautés autochtones rurales du Nord du Canada pour étudier les systèmes alimentaires locaux et renforcer la capacité alimentaire locale dans le but général d’améliorer l’accès aux aliments et la qualité de ceux-ci.

En plus de ses recherches sur la santé autochtone, M. Robidoux participe à des recherches sur le hockey, qui examinent la culture du hockey et les blessures dans le milieu du hockey jeunesse.

Recherches en cours

Dans le cadre du Groupe de recherche en santé indigène, Michael Robidoux travaille avec les communautés autochtones du Nord de l’Ontario et des Territoires-du-Nord-Ouest à l’établissement de stratégies économiques visant à soutenir les initiatives d’approvisionnement en aliments locaux. Le financement de ce programme de recherche provient du CRSH Subventions Savoir. Groupe de recherche en santé indigène

En partenariat avec l’entreprise CCM Hockey et grâce aux fonds versés par le Conseil de recherches en sciences naturelles et en génie du Canada, M. Robidoux travaille avec Blaine Hoshizaki à la documentation des blessures dans le milieu du hockey jeunesse. L’étude utilise une conception de la recherche observationnelle pour documenter les blessures in situ en vue d’établir les facteurs situationnels permettant d’expliquer pourquoi et comment les blessures surviennent dans le milieu du hockey jeunesse. Les données du projet seront essentielles au développement de stratégies de prévention des blessures et pour concevoir du matériel permettant de mieux protéger les jeunes qui jouent au hockey.
