Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced on December 3, 2014 the reappointment of Bruce La Rochelle (’76) to the Canada Agricultural Review Tribunal (CART). Dr. La Rochelle’s appointment is for a 3-year term effective June 21, 2015.
CART is a small quasi-judicial body that provides Canadians the opportunity to request reviews of certain administrative decisions or penalties imposed under various Agriculture and Agri-Food Acts. In this regard, CART plays a key role in ensuring a fair and efficient administrative monetary penalty system.
Dr. La Rochelle is a lawyer, practicing in association with the Ottawa law firm of Langevin Morris Smith LLP. He is a graduate in common law (magna cum laude) from the University of Ottawa (1976). He also holds an MBA degree from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto (1981) and a doctorate in business administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University (1993). He has been a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 1978.
Congratulations Mr. La Rochelle!
