Amélie Mercier is a second-year theatre student at the University of Ottawa. Born deaf, she’s worn cochlear implants from a young age. As part of her program, she’d have to take the production crew course, THE 3521, this year. The thing is, the control room headphones didn’t work with her devices, preventing her from hearing the actors on stage. Refusing to accept this situation, the Department of Theatre was determined to find a solution for Amélie.
