On Wednesday, October 28 2020, Positive Energy hosted a virtual workshop to examine regulatory independence and effectiveness in Canada. The workshop convened over 25 senior energy leaders to discuss how various actors and decision-makers in the Canadian energy system understand regulatory independence and its evolution over time. Workshop participants included representatives from executive government, regulatory agencies, academia, regulatory law practices, industry associations and environmental advocacy groups. The event was chaired by Positive Energy Executive-in-Residence Michael Cleland with introductory remarks by Positive Energy Chair Monica Gattinger.
