The External Relations team helps to manage and enhance key partnerships that support the University of Ottawa's goals and priorities. In upholding and advancing the University's brand and reputation, the External Relations' staff collaborate in a dynamic and creative work environment, and their activities and expertise add value to the University's initiatives and help the University achieve its goals.
Among the key activities of External Relations are the Campaign for Canada's university, alumni relations, brand initiatives, targeted messaging and communications, media relations, and high-profile ceremonies and events.
The Development Office raises funds in support of the University's priorities. These are primarily philanthropic donations from individuals, corporations and foundations, sponsorship and research support for specific projects.
The Development team works in and with faculties and departments to identify opportunities where donors can be instrumental to enhancing the university's programs, research and student support. Our fundraising priorities are aligned with the University of Ottawa's vision and mission and directly support the university's goals.
Working in collaboration with the Alumni Association, faculties, student groups and other central services, the Alumni Relations Office offers programs and services to our alumni, faculties and the University as a whole. The Alumni Relations Office nurtures lifelong relationships created by the university experience by increasing active alumni involvement in, and support of, university life.
The Communications Directorate (CD) supports the strategic vision of the University of Ottawa and advances its reputation by developing and reinforcing positive perceptions of its values, image and brand. The CD is also the key contact with media and writes corporate publications, such as Gazette and Tabaret.

Government Relations Office
The Government Relations Office serves as the University's liaison with all levels of government. Through the formation and enhancement of strategic relations, the Office advances understanding of and support for the University's mission of teaching and scholarship. The Director, Government Relations initiates and oversees activities and communications on behalf of the University community ensuring that they are consistent with the University's overall objectives, as well as monitors and reports on government activities that may impact the University.
Resources and Information Office
The Resources and Information Office assists the External Relations team with the maintenance and management of records, gift processing, technology support and research services. The Office also manages the financial, human and physical resources of External Relations, providing input on strategic planning and allocation of resources.
