Are you looking for a rewarding experience that showcases your entrepreneurial skills? Do you want to help improve accessibility in Ottawa? Join the Solutions Lab to develop a business idea which will help remove accessibility barriers. You can come with an idea or join a team with an existing idea! The teams will be formed on the first day of the program, and each participant will receive an award of $525 upon completion!

Eligibility

Students must complete a total of 40 hours of work on their project to complete the program and receive the final award of $525. 

To enroll, you should be:

  • A registered student enrolled in any full-time or part-time undergraduate program at the University of Ottawa.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Must participate in all aspects of the program to be eligible for the award.
  • Must complete the onboarding training to be eligible for the award.
  • Must fill out the evaluation form at the end of the program to be eligible to the award.

* Exchange students are eligible if they have the appropriate study permit and have consulted with the International Office.

*Please note that you can only participate in one Experience Ventures program per school year.

Schedule & Curriculum 

Students will work in teams to build their business idea and provide solutions around accessibility. Students will receive business training, access to mentors, guest speakers, and training materials to familiarize themselves with business modelling and how to improve accessibility in the City of Ottawa.

1. In class learning (16 hours)

  • Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • Thursday, February 23rd, 2023, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • Friday, February 24th, 2023, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
