Executive Leadership Team

The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) acts as an advisor to the Department Chair regarding the overall strategy and day-to-day activities for the clinical and academic missions of the Department of Pediatrics (DoP) and the Department of Pediatrics Associates (DPA). ELT considers and provides advice and recommendations to the Department Chair on all matters concerning the DoP/DPA, including (but not limited to):

  • Departmental strategic planning, objectives and work plans, aligning with CHEO and the University of Ottawa strategic plans and activities;
  • Recruitment and retention of faculty and staff;
  • Operational and financial performance of the Department;
  • Membership communications, as per the DoP/DPA Communications Charter;
  • Identification and management of risk across the DoP/DPA;
  • DoP/DPA policies, procedures and relevant regulations;
  • Integrity of management information and financial reporting systems;
  • Succession planning across the Department;
  • Other activities as they arise

Clinical Operations Committee

The Clinical Operations Committee oversees the clinical mission and strategic direction of the Department of Pediatrics (DoP), addressing clinical activities relating to the DoP within and beyond CHEO and ensuring excellence in all aspects of clinical care delivery.

Clinical Operations Committee decisions will be guided by patient safety, outcome and access data, and ultimately by the clinical needs of children and youth served by the Department. This committee is advisory to the Department of Pediatrics Chair/Chief and the Executive Leadership Team.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee oversees the financial activities of the Department of Pediatrics (DoP) and of the Department of Pediatrics Associates (DPA) partnership, advising on responsibilities relating to financial planning, financial reporting, risk management and financial policy setting. This committee is advisory to the Department of Pediatrics Chair/Chief and the Executive Leadership Team

Research Committee

The Research Committee has oversight on the research mission of the Department of Pediatrics (DoP), addressing research training and development, Faculty and trainee research and other areas of common interest among the DoP, CHEO and the CHEO Research Institute (RI), including Faculty recruitment and financial and infrastructure support for research. This committee is advisory to the DoP Chair/Chief and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

Faculty Affairs and Engagement Committee

The Faculty Affairs and Engagement Committee oversees talent management of the Department of Pediatrics (DoP) to ensure the DoP attracts and retains the talent needed to deliver on its clinical and academic mandates. As such, the Faculty Affairs and Engagement Committee addresses the following issues: faculty recruitment, retention and wellness; equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); relevant departmental policies & procedures. This committee is advisory to the Department of Pediatrics Chair/Chief and the Executive Leadership Team.

Department Teaching Personnel Committee

The DTPC (Departmental Teaching and Personnel Committee) is responsible for making recommendations concerning faculty members and their careers through the academic ranks with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa promotions pathway and giving advice to the Chair concerning any other academic matter as is referred to this committee that has an impact on the academic mandates of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. The DTPC actively participates in the promotion process serving as an internal peer review body, investing in mentorship and promotion preparation of quality applications for submission to the Faculty of Medicine.
