The University of Ottawa will house several destitute families during the COVID-19 crisis.
At the request of the City of Ottawa, our institution has agreed to house some 65 people to ensure their safety until the pandemic ends.
Some of these new residents may have been exposed to people who carry the coronavirus, while others are exhibiting symptoms of the illness, hence the need to quickly house them so that they can self-isolate.
The University residence, which was not in use when the City made its request, has been designated to house these families.
Facilities performed the marathon task of cleaning and preparing the apartments to allow these families to move into their temporary homes as of March 30.
“Our teams have collaborated together with energy and agility to support the community in these difficult times,” said Marc-Antoine Joly, Associate Vice-President, Facilities.
