Professor Michael Geist is listed on Canadian Lawyer Magazine's third annual list of the Top 25 Most Influential in the justice system and legal profession in Canada.

From May 23rd to 25th 2012 the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Law, Technology and Society (CLTS) hosted more than twenty-five scholars and a number of graduate students from over a dozen Canadian universities and institutions to a workshop entitled the Multidisciplinary Approaches to Intellectual Property Law.

Professor Teresa Scassa was recently appointed to the new Advisory Panel on Open Government. This advisory panel will provide the federal government with advice and guidance on its Open Government activities.

The Centre for Law, Technology and Society was awarded an “Aid to Research Workshops and Conferences” grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The grant was awarded to professors Teresa Scassa and Mistrale Goudreau, as well as Madelaine Saginur, Executive Director of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

Professor Jennifer A. Chandler has been awarded the 2012 James Kreppner Fellowship from Canadian Blood Services.

Professor Karen Eltis has written a new book entitled "Courts, Litigants and the Digital Age: Law, Ethics and Practice," published by Irwin Law.

Professor Jeremy de Beer will present a talk entitled "Innovation? What innovation? Re-thinking progress and how we measure it."

Prof. Jeremy de Beer, in conjunction with Prof. Chidi Oguamanam, publishes a timely paper addressing the burgeoning issues of the demand for and quality of intellectual property training in developing countries.

On October 27th 2011, Professor Ian Kerr, Canada Research Chair in Ethics, Law and Technology, was featured in a panel discussion at Stanford Law School titled, "Artificial Intelligence: A Legal Perspective."

Professor Valerie Steeves is one of the organizers of the upcoming academic workshop “The Expanding Surveillance Net: Ten Years After 9/11.”
