Sexual Violence on Campus: It Ends with Us!

Online training for students

We have made this training available to all University of Ottawa students through the BrightSpace portal. It covers information on sexual violence, consent, bystander intervention and how to support survivors.  

We encourage all students to take this training in order to help make our campus a healthy, safe place.

What to do when someone discloses an alleged incident of sexual violence

MANDATORY online workshop for professors and staff members 

The Human Rights Office has partnered with Human Resources to host this workshop, which equips staff members and professors to help them understand what constitutes sexual violence and how to support any member of the University community who may disclose a potential incident of sexual violence. It also covers the resources available and the obligations specified in applicable regulations.

Mobilizing the Bystanders

This in-person training workshop is intended for all members of the University community (students, staff and professors). 

This in-person workshop aims to equip members of the University community so they can recognize the warning signs of sexual violence, act as an active bystander when sexual violence occurs, and respond effectively when an incident of sexual violence is disclosed. 

This training includes discussions, what-if scenarios and strategies to help you correctly take action.

Registration is required to participate.

Training and presentations tailored to your needs

The Human Rights Office can provide training that is tailored to your team, in different formats, based on your needs. For example, we can: 

  • Give a presentation to a first-year class on consent, preventing sexual violence, and the Human Rights Office 
  • Host a workshop on preventing sexual violence for your team 
  • Participate in lunch-and-learn activities 
  • Staff a booth on campus or elsewhere
