Biography

Marianne Saikaley is an employee of the University of Ottawa since 2008. She currently holds the position of Project Manager within the Dean's Office at the Faculty of Social Sciences.  She is responsible for managing important strategic projects from conception to implementation.

Her projects cut across several sectors, allowing her to have a complete picture of the Faculty’s administrative and academic activities. She previously worked as Research Management Lead for the Vice-Dean, Research where she gained experience in financial management, human resources as well as physical and material resources. Consequently, she developed in-depth knowledge of research management.

Marianne is a University of Ottawa Alumni and holds a Master of Human Kinetics – Concentration in Sport Management and a Bachelor of Honours in Human Kinetics. On top of her professional experience, Marianne’s interpersonal and leadership skills help her foster trust and engagement with her colleagues and clientele.

She is the founder of the Facebook group uOttawa Support Staff Discussion which is composed of approximately 850 support staff members. If elected to the Board of Governors, as your representative, Marianne commits to keeping you up to date on issues that may impact support staff and to be your spokesperson.

Work Experience:

Project Manager: Dean’s Office, Faculty of Social Sciences  2020 – Present

  • Project management activities: liaise, follow governance protocols, financial forecasting
  • Planning activities: strategic planning and implementing, operational analysis and planning, risk assessment, resource allocation (HR and physical)
  • Continuous improvement and project promotion activities: monitor internal and external trends, change agent, defining targets and measuring progress.
  • Human resources: develop job descriptions, participate in Hay committee

Research Management Lead: Vice-Dean of Research, Faculty of Social Sciences  2012-2020

  • Management of research activities: policy interpretation and application, expert advice, strategic planning, statistical analysis, research committee member
  • Management of financial resources: control, plan and administer research funds, designated approver, designated buyer, operation budget planning
  • Human resources: supervision, evaluations, designated approver.
