Fire Extinguisher Workshop
May 7, 2024 — 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Emergency Management, in partnership with Ottawa Fire Services, is hosting a Fire Extinguisher Workshop. Learn more about fire safety best practices and have a chance to use a fire extinguisher to extinguish flames quickly and effectively.
This workshop includes two parts:
- In-class learning: Discuss types, features and safe operation of fire extinguishers, as well as fire safety awareness.
- Outdoor practice: Get safe hands-on experience and practise with a fire extinguisher on a controlled, live fire. Note: The instructor will have complete control over the fire at all times.

Fire Extinguisher Workshop
Who should take this workshop
The workshop is open to all members of the University community, but is particularly relevant to subject-matter experts such as building wardens, professors and staff working in labs, and regular staff, as required by their job functions.
Event details:
- Format: In person
- Language: bilingual event
- Location: Social Sciences Building (FSS), Room 1030. The practice with a fire extinguisher on a controlled, live fire will be held at University Square.
