Unified Communications

What is unified communications?

Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) allows you to make, receive and manage calls via Microsoft Teams. It blends internet-based phone, messaging and voicemail into a full-featured communications platform to provide staff with collaboration tools to work anywhere and from any device.
  • Unified communications uses software that simulates the actions of a telephone. This software can be used on computers, tablets, and smartphones by using Internet to make and receive telephone calls instead of a physical telephone.
  • The implementation of this system will allow more flexibility for our increasingly mobile workforce who work on and off campus, attend conferences, training and other events.
  • Reducing the number of physical phones as well as our telephony infrastructure will improve the University’s carbon footprint.

It's time to usher in proven technologies that will get us where we need to be

“To best seize the opportunities that we can access through advances in technology, we are investing in modern tools like the myriad of applications on our devices that allow us to be agile, resilient and connected, whether we work on campus or at home. We need to pursue these solutions to empower the University to be more efficient and better serve our mandate of higher learning and research.”
