Letter of Intention

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to express my strong interest in serving as the Full-Time Support Staff Representative on the Board of Governors of the University of Ottawa. With 25 years of experience in the Ontario education system, I bring a deep understanding of educational institutions and a commitment to student success. As a Learning Specialist with Academic Accommodations since 2023, I am further invested in the University's success and believe my experience and perspective would be valuable assets to the Board.

Having a keen understanding of the University of Ottawa Act (1965), I recognize the critical role the Board plays in governing and managing the University. The Board's fiscal decisions and policy implementations directly impact the daily operations and experiences of students, faculty, and staff. As a member of the full-time support staff, I have firsthand knowledge of how these decisions translate into practice.

Throughout my tenure as a Learning Specialist, I have fostered strong relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues across departments. This collaborative approach aligns seamlessly with the collaborative nature of the Board. Moreover, my experience in student support services has instilled in me a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by all members of the University community.

My leadership and advocacy skills, honed through my work with students with diverse learning needs, would be a valuable asset in advocating for the well-being and professional development of full-time support staff at the Board level. My commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment further aligns with the Board's responsibility to ensure a healthy environment for all staff.

I am confident that my unique perspective, combined with my understanding of Board functions and University operations, would make me a strong representative for the full-time support staff. I am eager to contribute to the Board's mission of ensuring the University's continued prosperity and sustainability.

Thank you for considering my candidacy.

Sincerely,

Chantal Gracez
