Intramural season is finally upon us and we’re as excited as ever to see our gyms filled with active and enthusiastic Gee Gees! With such an exciting roster of intramural sports being offered, the only question at the top of our minds is - how many do we sign up for?

Here are the top 5 reasons for you and your friends to sign up for intramurals this semester:

Meet people with similar interests

Meeting friends on campus can often be difficult. Intramurals are a great way to meet people just like you, even if you’re not big on sports. You’ll get to learn about your teammates and maybe even spark up a lifelong friendship.

Staying active will have you feeling GREAT!

Physical activity simply feels great, especially if you’re playing a sport you love. Whether you’re interested in keeping in shape, relieving stress, or just having fun, your body will thank you.

Continue your favourite sport

Undoubtedly, many of us had “our sport” back in high school. Intramurals gives you the opportunity to continue playing the sport you love in a structured environment on a casual basis. Better yet, you can try out a sport that you’ve always been interested in, but have never had the time to try!

Even if sports aren’t generally your thing, joining intramurals is a great way to try out a sport for fun or uncover a hidden passion of yours. We offer a large selection of sports so there is sure to be something out there for you!

Inexpensive

For minimal cost, you get to enjoy a full semester of weekly games, giving you the opportunity to meet people and stay active at a low cost. The cost for recreational leagues outside of the university can easily reach up to 10 times that cost (or more!). It only makes sense to play where you study.

Get involved on campus

We are all Gee-Gees, but being active in the school community will help you feel that sense of connection and pride. The opportunity to connect with your peers from across the university will show you why so many of us are proud Gee-Gees.

Registration opens September 1st, and you won't wait to sign up as registration fills up quickly. More information on where and how to register will be shared on Wednesday, August 25th, so stay tuned!
