Faculty of Medicine

“Another lesson this pandemic teaches us is the critical importance of collaboration between researchers and front-line clinicians. The scientist Marie Curie said, “Nothing in life is to be feared, everything is to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, in order to fear less.” We must understand this virus in order to defeat it.

That understanding will come from scientists in the lab and physicians on the front lines, working together to develop and test treatments, in a way that is safe, ethical, rigorous, and as rapid as possible.

Courage. Community. Collaboration.

These are the words I would like you to remember, as you begin your careers in medicine.”

- Dr. Bernard Jasmin, Dean
