Spring is in the air! Like us, we know that all you want to do is be outside and feel the warm sun on your face. Luckily, the University of Ottawa is surrounded by many parks, each offering a unique blend of nature and activities.

Here’s a list of our favourites, all located within walking distance.

1. Where history meets green bliss

Major’s Hill Park, Mackenzie Avenue, Ottawa.

A stone’s throw from the National Gallery of Canada, Major’s Hill Park boasts beautiful gardens and inviting benches. Whether you’re unwinding after classes or having a picnic with friends, the park offers breathtaking views of Parliament Hill and the Ottawa River.

2. Downtown’s green haven

Nestled in the downtown core, this park offers a serene atmosphere and panoramic view of the cityscape. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon read or to enjoy seasonal events like the Ottawa International Jazz Festival or Canada Day celebrations.

Situated along the Ottawa River, Jacques Cartier Park is easily reachable by bike or a leisurely stroll. The stunning vistas of the river and the Alexandra Bridge make this park a local gem.
