As part of Le mois de la francophonie, members of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa and the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Abidjan will host a symposium on multilingualism and language learning.This event, hosted by El Hadji Yaya Koné, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa, will take place in virtual mode on March 10, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST).

El Hadji Yaya Koné is a researcher in online and hybrid training pedagogy in a university context. He explores the issues of digital disciplinary pedagogy, in relation to learning assessment, inclusive pedagogy, collaborative learning and cross-border distance education (DE). He is also interested in the professional development of academic advisors and teachers. His research is primarily qualitative and grounded theory based. Dr. Koné has been a trainee in distance education at the Télé-université du Québec (Téluq), a lecturer at the Faculty of Education of the Université de Montréal, a pedagogical advisor at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), and a professor at the UER éducation of the same university, where he developed and directed the postgraduate microprogram in pedagogy for postsecondary education.

Koia Jean-Martial Kouame is a full professor and director of the Institute of Applied Linguistics in Abidjan (Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny). His research interests include French variation in Africa, lexicology and francophone lexicography, and didactic interventions in multi-ethnic and multilingual environments.

His research focuses on understanding the neurocognitive mechanism related to an atypical interaction mode observed in people with severe intellectual disabilities.
