The President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa, Jacques Frémont, requests the honour of your presence at a special convocation to confer the degree of Doctor of the University on Sam Tsemberis, founder of the Pathways Approach to Housing First, an evidence-based program that ends chronic homelessness for people with serious mental illness and addictions.
Members of the academic procession (members of the Senate and Board of Governors, and professors) who will be participating in the special convocation are kindly asked to indicate their preferred robe size, height and faculty affiliation on the registration form so that their robe is ready upon arrival for the ceremony.
All members of the academic procession are asked to arrive at Room 4004 of the Social Sciences Building by 2 p.m. to allow adequate time for robing.
“Celebrating CMHA Ottawa’s 70th Anniversary: A Conversation about Housing First with Dr. Sam Tsemberis, University of Ottawa honourary doctorate recipient and executive director of Pathways to Housing”
Join us on December 4 at 4:30 p.m., following the special convocation ceremony, for a panel discussion about the “Housing First” approach to ending homelessness. The event will include an interview with Dr. Sam Tsemberis by Dr. Susan Farrell, executive director of CMHA Ottawa, focusing on the transformative nature of Housing First. This will be followed by a discussion panel with a tenant (Leif Harris, CMHA Ottawa), practitioner (Catharine Vandelinde, Options Bytown) and researcher (Tim Aubry, University of Ottawa), who will each provide different perspectives on Housing First.
