uOttawa Tabaret Hall in the fall
To members of the uOttawa community

I begin by sharing my deepest condolences to those who are impacted by the attacks in Israel and the ensuing violence in Israel and Gaza. We stand in solidarity with all those who suffer, directly or indirectly, due to this conflict.

The scale of the suffering is generating strong emotions. Despite the distress caused by these horrible events, we must all remember to treat each other with respect and empathy as we interact in our halls or online. No incidents of hate will be tolerated on our campuses. Antisemitism and Islamophobia have no place in our community.

The University of Ottawa is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our community. Our Protection Services are working with local authorities and monitoring online activity. Security on campus has been enhanced and we ask everyone to be vigilant. We urge anyone who witnesses or experiences safety concerns of any kind to contact Protection Services or to report an emergency at 613-562-5411.

No one needs to suffer alone. We have support systems available. Please use them if you feel you need them or turn to our multifaith centre.
