André Gauthier (1942-2021)
André Gauthier was a visionary entrepreneur and accomplished businessperson. A graduate of the University of Ottawa and the École Polytechnique de Montréal, he began his career at IBM, before co-founding, in 1979, LGS Group, a technology consultancy that soon became a Quebec industry leader.
Passionate about innovation, André played a key role in the success of numerous businesses through his involvement with various boards of directors. His career was marked by a constant quest for excellence and the desire to make a difference in the technology sector.
André’s travels around the world allowed him to feed his intellectual curiosity and expand his horizons, an experience he wished to share with the community through his philanthropy in support of the André Gauthier Sustainable Cities Initiative Fund at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Arts. This initiative aims to be a catalyst for action that fosters cities able to adapt to environmental, social and technological changes. Thanks to his generous support, André Gauthier's legacy continues to help promote cross-sectoral research and encourage collaboration for a more resilient and equitable urban future, both in Canada and around the world.
