Carole Fleuret is a full professor at the Faculty of Education. She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Education (French Didactics), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on second language didactics, pluriliterate repertoires, and multilingualism. She conducts studies on the appropriation of written language specifically orthographic development and the sociocognitive and cultural components involved in literacy socialization among marginalized populations from an intercultural perspective. She is also interested in the various integration methods for newcomers. Following the 2022 publication of the Ontario Human Rights Commission's 'Right to Read' report, the Centre Jules-Léger Consortium selected Professor Fleuret to co-lead the development and piloting of a reading intervention program for students in Ontario's French-language school boards. Professor Fleuret has shared her expertise on current events and educational research as a regular guest on the French-language radio station UniqueFM. In 2025, she was the recipient of the Acfas Gilles Paquet Award for her exceptional contribution to the vitality and advancement of French-language research within Canada’s Francophone minority context.
