Description

Language, culture, and technology: what roles in education considering new geopolitical
and socio-economic challenges in the world?

The issues of language in the face of the new geopolitical and socioeconomic paradigms of the 21st century make language a vector of influence and power in the world. Language reinforces the cultural identities and scientific heritages of communities sharing the same linguistic heritage and favors the spatial marking of their areas of influence. Hence the tensions of rivalries between different linguistic communities, through the promotion of their cultures, languages, and scientific productions, to establish their hegemony on given territories.

Moreover, the development of artificial intelligence relies on natural language to enrich educational experiences. Therefore, as language is the primary instructional tool, how can we align it with culture and technologies to better prepare today's learners and tomorrow's leaders to effectively address the issues of political, cultural, and socio-economic power relations emerging from the relationships between communities, which are increasingly multilingual and multi-ethnic in an increasingly interconnected world in the age of digital technologies?
