Workshops

Workshop 1A: Coding and Mathematics with Scratch for Elementary teachers

During this hands-on workshop, you will learn coding concepts using Scratch, a free online software used around the world to teach coding to children. You will explore two activities, one on counting money and one on geometry. Leave with full units ready to go.

Workshop 1B: Coding and Mathematics with micro:bits and python for High School teachers

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to code a micro: bit to calculate the probability of an event, including two independent or dependent events. Programming concepts including subroutine creation and data analysis are taught, including how to code using the programing language Python to calculate the probabilities. This is a great hands-on workshop for your students to learn the benefits of using programming language to handle large amounts of data. This workshop is a good introduction to coding with Python.

Workshop 2A: Coding and Robotics with Sphero Mini (for Elementary teachers)

In this hands-on workshop, you  will explore the world of autonomous vehicles and learn essential programming concepts by coding a “smart car”. A cumulative task of finding the most efficient route from one end of a city to the other end is provided. Using Sphero Minis and iPads, embark your students on this exciting coding adventure!

Workshop 2B: Coding and Robotics with RVR robots for High School teachers

In this hands-on workshop, your students will gain insights into the world of autonomous vehicles and the significance of Safe Supply Transportation by automating a delivery service using programming concepts. Your students will learn how to apply the Engineering Design Process to tackle the ultimate challenge of creating the fastest and most efficient route for delivering items from point A to point B, while avoiding obstacles.
