Contest rules

This contest is open to students enrolled for the Fall 2023 term at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa. 

A public Instagram account is required to enter the contest. 

The contest period is from September 5 at 9:00 a.m. EST to September 10 at 11:59 EST. 

To enter the contest: 

• Post a photo of your first week on campus on your Instagram feed 

• Add the hashtag #uOttawaEngineering or #uOttawaGenie in the caption of your post 

• Tag @genie_engineering_uottawa in your post 

• Follow @genie_engineering_uottawa 

One post equals one contest entry. The post must be posted on your Instagram feed. Instagram stories will not count towards a contest participation. You are allowed unlimited entries. 

• Two winners will be randomly selected on September 11 among all entries to the contest. 

• Only one prize per participant will be awarded.  

• Each winner will win one uOttawa Engineering hoodie and one $25 gift card to the University of Ottawa Campus Store. 

• Winners will be contacted via Instagram direct message on September 11 and will be asked to provide their student number for validation of enrolment status. 

• Winners have two weeks to reply and pick up their prize. 

• If no response is received within the two-week window, a new winner will be selected. 

The University of Ottawa is not responsible for any submissions made in error, any corrupted files or submissions that are otherwise damaged, destroyed, lost, late, not viewable, incomplete or misdirected. The University is not responsible or liable for any damage or losses arising from or connected to the contest. Submissions that do not fully comply with the contest rules are ineligible. 

Contestants acknowledge that Facebook and Instagram, as well as their respective stakeholders, take no responsibility for this contest. This contest is in no way associated, promoted, sanctioned or administrated by Facebook and/or Instagram.
