Marta Keller, LLB ’09, offers life and career advice in new book

Marta Keller, LLB ’09, is dedicated to helping female professionals feel more fulfilled and have better work-life balance so they can live their own version of success. She has co-authored the recently released book Women in Law: Discovering the True Meaning of Success. The book is an anthology of advice on life and career, from 23 accomplished female lawyers. Each of the authors shares their story of embarking on her own personal journey of self-love, self-reflection and self-awareness. In particular, these are stories of being a woman in law, finding your own path to success and redefining what success means.

Keller’s philosophy is that improving the mindset and mental health of women in law and entrepreneurship allows them to make a greater difference in the world, while enjoying their life more.

Keller writes and works from a place of personal experience and understanding. After working with trauma survivors in the legal system for five years, Keller experienced secondary traumatic stress. She had become, in her own words, “a disembodied lawyer” and describes herself at that time as “a thinking, analytical, linear, reasoning, logical talking head”, explaining that she neglected the messages her body was sending her. Today, Keller is a certified Embodiment Coach, and pursuing coaching certification in Organic Intelligence®. She integrates neuroscience and corporeal approaches to guide her clients to use practical and simple body-based tools.

The inspiring authors of Women in Law are all accomplished female lawyers, hailing from BigLaw, small law, and everything in between, including alternative careers to traditional law practice. The book is brimming with uplifting and triumphant stories and words of encouragement for those considering a career in law.  Pre-law students, law students, and new lawyers will find these stories particularly poignant and helpful.

Proceeds from Women in Law are being donated to the charity Ms. JD, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the success of women in law school and the legal profession.
