Biography

Dr. Bonin completed both her undergraduate medical education and her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Université de Montréal, in the Province of Québec.  She obtained her Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Obstetrics and Gynecology in June of 1993.  Immediately following that, Dr. Bonin moved to Ottawa in order to pursue fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She proved to be a diligent and committed contributor during her fellowship and was subsequently invited to join the MFM Group in 1995. Dr. Bonin’s penchant for learning and education sent her back to the classroom, embarking on a journey to her MBA at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa which she completed in June 2010.

Dr. Bonin has fulfilled several different types of leadership roles over the last 20 years both at uOttawa, Faculty of Medicine and at The Ottawa Hospital.  As an Associate Professor, with an interest in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, she continues her leadership in this area, currently as the Program Director for the MFM Fellowship and the Advanced OBS/GYN Ultrasound Fellowships in the Faculty of Medicine (since July 2021).  Dr Bonin previously served as the Medical Director for the Dept of OBS/GYN Ultrasound (two terms), most recently until July  2021.  From 2011 to 2014 she served as the Medical Director of Medical Education at TOH, then a newly created role aimed at consolidating all medical trainees’ experience within the organization. From September 2006 to September 2011, she was Deputy Chief of Staff at The Ottawa Hospital.  From June of 2001 to September of 2006, she was Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa. She served as the francophone co-chair for the Reproduction and Sexuality Block from 1998 through to 2001.  During her tenure as co-chair, she had the opportunity to participate in the development of a new and vibrant aspect of the medical curriculum; the ‘francophone stream’. 

Clinic area of expertise:

Dr. Bonin has focused her areas of expertise in prenatal ultrasound and the management of fetal anomalies.
