Biography
Dr. Szanto was born in Hungary, where he earned a Ph.D. in solid state physics from the University of Technology Institute of Physics in 1985. In 1987 he moved to Ottawa completing a medical physics residency in 1989. He is a senior medical physicist at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, where he has contributed to the development of successful programs in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Total Body Irradiation.
His current research interests are informed by his work with the Cyberknife system, and include: Stereotactic Radiotherapy/radiosurgery (SRT/SRS), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), clinical and small field dosimetry, image-guided radiotherapy, fiducial tracking, functional and vascular stereotactic radiosurgery.
