Biography

Dr. Parisa Rezaiefar is a Family Physician with a focused practice designation in reproductive and sexual health and an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is the lead physician for the Specialized Clinical Transition Team for Refugees with Complex Needs at Ottawa Newcomers Health Clinic and a reproductive and sexual health consultant at Ottawa Obstetrics Reproductive Integrated Gynecological Services (Origyns) Medical Clinic in Ottawa.

She is interested in promoting health equity and the inclusion of equity-deserving populations in Health Professions Education and Research.

She teaches refugee health and reproductive and sexual health at undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional development levels and in her clinical practice. She has developed and published tools for teaching and evaluating Family Medicine trainees' competence in office-based gynecologic procedures. She owns a website; Innovation Portal , hosted by the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, which uses e-learning technology and simulation to teach and evaluate competence in gynecologic procedures for trainees in primary care and a YouTube channel, @dr.parisarezaiefarsgp4pc, which hosts educational videos on how to perform office-based gynecologic procedure for primary care providers.

Her leadership and advocacy roles include generating critical knowledge about the experience of underrepresented women trainees in Family Medicine and refugees in Canada.
