We are hosting an in-person hub of the 2025 Summer Institute on Sustainable Health Systems, June 9-12, 2025!

Event Details
The Summer Institute on Sustainable Health Systems was created to provide health research and health professional trainees with the opportunity to increase awareness of sustainable health systems and current action in Canada.
Through guided learning activities, meetings with local sustainability leaders and nation-wide panel discussions, the Summer Institute aims to develop trainee knowledge, leadership skills and capabilities, and build professional, interdisciplinary networks of trainees and professionals with shared interests.
Speakers
Kristen Coté
Environmental Health Specialist, Ottawa Public Health
Kristen Coté is an Environmental Health Specialist at Ottawa Public Health. During her university studies, she completed a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) from Cape Breton University, as well as a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University. While completing her master’s, she was a member of the Centre for Water Resources Studies at Dalhousie and worked with remote communities in Nunavut to assess drinking water quality. Since joining Ottawa Public Health in 2014 as a Public Health Inspector, she has been a member of the Infection Prevention and Control, Information Technology, Community Operations, and Healthy Environments teams.

Salmaan Kanji, BSc.Pharm, ACPR, Pharm.D.
Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Critical Care, The Ottawa Hospital; Associate Scientist, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
Salmaan Kanji is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Critical Care at The Ottawa Hospital and an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He has published on various topics related to critical care pharmacotherapy and leads active research programs in critical care pharmacokinetics, atrial fibrillation, sedation, delirium, and medication safety in the ICU.

Anastasia MacDougall, MEB, PMP, LEED Green Assoc.
Project Lead, Environmental Sustainability, The Ottawa Hospital
Anastasia MacDougall is the Project Lead for Environmental Sustainability at The Ottawa Hospital. With a background in architecture and project management, she has experience working on diverse operational, renovation, and change management projects at multiple healthcare organizations in Ontario. Having recently completed a Master of Environment and Business through the University of Waterloo, Anastasia has been leading the corporate environmental sustainability program at The Ottawa Hospital since December 2023. She has been involved in multiple projects ranging from waste reduction and diversion to policy and practice changes. In her spare time, Anastasia loves spending time with her two cats, reading, and dancing.

Husein Moloo, MD, MSc MPH FRCSC
Colorectal Surgeon, The Ottawa Hospital; Director of Planetary Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa; Physician Lead for Planetary Health, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Husein Moloo is a colorectal surgeon at The Ottawa Hospital with a background in quality improvement and patient safety. Through this work, he has developed an appreciation for the intersection of quality improvement and planetary health. He is currently the Director of Planetary Health for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Physician Lead for Planetary Health at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Jeff Mosher, Lic.Tech OAA, LEED AP BD+C, EDAC, CPHD
Licensed Technologist, Ontario Association of Architects; Member, Canada Green Building Council (Ottawa Chapter); Co-founder, Permaculture Ottawa
Jeff Mosher is a Licensed Technologist with the Ontario Association of Architects, a LEED and EDAC accredited professional, and a Certified Passive House Designer with 18 years of industry experience primarily focused on the design and construction of healthcare facilities. A member of the Canada Green Building Council (Ottawa Chapter) and co-founder of Permaculture Ottawa, Jeff’s recent experience with integrated P3 and conventional project delivery on some of Ontario’s largest and greenest healthcare infrastructure projects has given him unique insights into best practices not only in reducing the carbon footprint of buildings but also in planning for climate resiliency to prepare for inevitable changes.
