Presentation: Carbon Footprinting the Ottawa Hospital

With a background in architecture and project management, Anastasia has experience working on diverse operational, renovation, and change management projects at multiple healthcare organizations in Ontario. Having recently completed a Master of Environment and Business through the University of Waterloo, Anastasia has been leading the corporate environmental sustainability program at The Ottawa Hospital since December 2023, where she has had the opportunity to be involved in multiple projects from waste reduction and diversion to policy and practice changes.  In her spare time, Anastasia loves spending time with her two cats, reading, and dancing.

Alex Sy and Stephanie Howe are two second-year medical students and members of the uOttawa Sustainability and Climate Change Committee. Their work focuses on organizing events to promote sustainability in the Faculty of Medicine and contributing to the Planetary Health Report Card, a tool that evaluates planetary health in medical schools across the world.

Presentation: Reducing our carbon footprint in research labs one pipet tip at a time

I'm the laboratory manager at the Cancer Center; this group has 10 labs and approximately 80 students and staff. I'm also the chair of the newly created OHRI Green Committee. I'm a strong believer that everyone has a role to play in keeping our planet as healthy as possible and that we must do our part in research to minimize our impact on the environment.

Presentation: Carbon Economics: A Case for Pantoprazole

Dr. Kanji is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Critical Care at The Ottawa Hospital and an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He has published on a variety of topics related to critical care pharmacotherapy and has active research programs in critical care pharmacokinetics, atrial fibrillation, sedation, delirium, and medication safety in the ICU.
