This workshop is part of a series on social justice planned by the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Social Sciences. Introduced by Loretta J. Ross during the Fall term and planned by three graduate students of the Faculty, these workshops offer pathways to imagine a more equitable world, empower minority voices while offering theoretical and practical tools to speak to power. The series will continue during the 2022 Winter term.

The first morning will be dedicated to articulations between scientific research and EDI around questions such as: How to produce research in line with the EDI principles? What questions to ask? What knowledge should be mobilized? What attitudes to adopt? Which methodological approach should be prioritized? The second day will focus on human resources practices related to EDI and on how to increase the representativeness of members of the five under-represented groups or disadvantaged in research. The Conference will be held in French with simultaneous translation in English.

CBIA Core Lunch ‘n’ Learn

The CBIA core is launching a new weekly program to help the scientific community in their microscopy-related projects which will happen every Wednesday at Noon. Bi-weekly, we will cover a specific topic in Microscopy with open office hours interspersed.

We welcome any questions related to microscopy, image analysis, or the operations of our light microscopy core facility.

Custom viral vectors and particles produced by the Faculty of Medicine’s GEM facility

Services at the GEM facility are not limited to CRISPR knock-out and knock-in cell line generation. In addition to our CRISPR guide and human ORFeome libraries we offer a range of services, including custom viral vector generation. For example, we can offer to move ORFs into viral transfer vectors, introduce point mutations and generate lentiviral particles, in addition to offering stable cell line generation if required.
