Eligibility:
All regular professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Unit Directors and Vice-Deans are excluded.
Nomination process:
Candidates for the Award for activities in the media and community must be nominated by at least one professor from within the Faculty of Social Sciences, and their nomination supported by the Chair of Director of the candidate's unit. Nominations should include:
- A letter of recommendation from the chair or director
- A description of the candidate's contribution
- If possible, one or more letters of endorsement from students and/or colleagues
- A CV
Nominations must be submitted by email to [email protected] by March 15. If no candidates are submitted, the Dean and Vice-Deans will propose nominations.
Selection process:
The selection committee will be chaired by the Dean and composed of the Vice-Deans and the Faculty's Chief Administrator.
Selection criteria:
The Faculty of Social Sciences' Award for activities in the media or in the community is presented annually to a member of the teaching staff who has demonstrated outstanding service by sharing his or her expertise through the media or with the community, both locally and nationally.
Award:
At the Dean's Brunch, the recipient will receive a commemorative plaque as well as a research assistantship and the amount of $2,500 in research funding. Every year, the name of the recipient will be added to the Faculty's commemorative plaque to be displayed permanently.
