InCanada Alone: Navigating the Post-American World,Nossal argues that the return of a Republican ‘America First’ president to the White House would bring about an unprecedented challenge to the unity of the West as a Republican administration picks up where Donald Trump left off in 2020. In this talk, Nossal will focus on how Canadians might prepare for the possibility of the return of America First.

Kim Richard Nossal is professor emeritus in the Centre for International and Defence Policy, Queen’s University. He is the author of a number of works on Canadian foreign policy, includingCanada Alone,published in September 2023, and an updated and revised edition ofPolitique internationale et défense au Canada et au Québec,co-authored with Stéphane Roussel and Stéphane Paquin, released in August 2023.

Thomas Juneau is associate professor at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and network coordinator of the Security Studies Network at CIPS.
