The Faculty of Social Sciences and the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa would like to congratulate Audrey-Ann Deneault, recipient of the 2022 Governor General's Gold Medal, for her doctoral thesis. In addition, Audrey-Ann received the prize for the best essay from the Canadian Psychological Association for the field of childhood and family.

For nearly 150 years, the Governor General's Academic Medals have honored students in Canada who have achieved exceptional academic success. They are given to graduates who have obtained the best average at the end of their studies. What an accomplishment!

Audrey-Ann is particularly interested in father-child relationships and the influence of different family systems (e.g., co-parenting relationship, sibling relationships) on child development. She launched the ÉducoFamille platform, hoping to promote the dissemination of scientific research to the general public, especially fathers and parents of older children.

“A big problem in the resources available now is that they are very “mom-oriented”. I always put myself in the place of people who do not fit into this mold, whether fathers or different families […] I found it important to have a site that was more inclusive,” explains Audrey-Ann Deneault.

The collaboration between Audrey-Ann and her supervisor professor from the School of Psychology, Jean-François Bureau played an important role in the writing of Audrey-Ann's thesis. “Audrey-Ann was a model student! She has always demonstrated great initiative and in-depth knowledge of her subject. I am very happy for her! » Professor Jean-François Bureau.
