Completion of Degree Requirements and Applications to the College of Psychologists of Ontario

The completion of degree requirements includes the successful completion of courses, practica, and the internship, and the submission of the final version of the dissertation as required by the dissertation examining committee. Once all of these requirements have been met, there is typically a period of weeks or months before the doctoral degree is conferred by the University. It is during this period of time that, as part of the registration application for the College of Psychologists of Ontario, some students request from the Clinical Program a letter indicating that all degree requirements have been met.

Neither the Clinical Program nor the School of Psychology has the authority to provide such a letter. However, a confirmation that all degree requirements have been completed before the degree is conferred can be obtained from the University. A comment confirming completion of degree requirements can be added to the academic transcript by the Graduate Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences. To request the addition of this comment, you must make a request to the Graduate Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences at [email protected]. It can take a few days for this comment to be added to your transcript but, once it has been added, you can then request a Statement of degree requirements completed / Completion letter from InfoService (see https://www.uottawa.ca/study/transcripts-academic-documents).
