The Data Literacy Research Institute has a governance structure to ensure the proper functioning of these three vital functions: research, training, and partnerships. Each of these committees supports our ongoing quest for innovation and advancement in data literacy.

Since the DLRI just launched, we are currently in the process of forming the committees that will drive its governance. The final composition of each committee might change slightly, but targets are listed below. We aim to form the committees by September 2024. 

Steering Committee 

The Steering Committee will comprise: 

  • the Director 
  • the Directors of the three subcommittees 
  • the Vice-Deans Research from the three founding faculties 
  • an OCAP-trained advisor 
  • an EDI advisor 
  • a graduate or postdoctoral student representative 
  • the Institute Coordinator 

Research Subcommittee 

The Research Subcommittee will comprise: 

  • the Research Director 
  • the Institute director 
  • a faculty member/researcher representative for each ongoing project
  • representatives of external stakeholders who are involved in active projects 
  • a representative from the Training and Outreach Committees 
  • a graduate or postdoctoral student representative 
  • an international representative

Training Subcommittee 

The Training Subcommittee will comprise: 

  • the Training Director 
  • the Institute Director 
  • a teaching expert
  • representatives from external partners (e.g., Canada School of Public Service)
  • a representative from the Research and Outreach Committees
  • a graduate or undergraduate student representative 
  • an international representative 

Outreach Subcommittee 

The Outreach Subcommittee will comprise: 

  • the Outreach Director 
  • the Institute Director
  • representatives from external knowledge users 
  • a representative from the Research and Training Subcommittees 
  • an undergraduate or graduate student representative
