AI Hype and the Justice Gap Poster

Presentation

The AI + Society Initiative and the Conway Professionalism Speaker Series present, in collaboration with the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society:

There is widespread speculation that artificial intelligence will transform the practice of law and expand access to justice. In "AI Hype and the Justice Gap," Prof. Markovic will examine these ideas, with a special focus on new technologies such as GPT-4.  Professor Markovic will contend that, although AI can facilitate access to basic legal information and advice, the substitution of lawyers with generative AI is ethically fraught and must be analyzed within the context of an unequal and adversarial justice system.
