About our speaker

Antonios Abou Kasm has been a lawyer at the Beirut Court for more than 18 years and a professor of international law, admitted to the list of Counsel before the International Criminal Courts since 2011, was appointed by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in 2014 as Lead Counsel for the Defense and in 2020 as Lead Counsel - Legal Representative of Victims.

He holds a PhD in International Law (University of Grenoble) and several Masters and advanced academic and professional degrees (United Nations, ICRC, The Hague Academy of International Law, Leiden University, University of Deleware, PennState DickinsonLaw, St. Joseph's University of Beirut, Lebanese University, ICC, US Department of State).

He served as the Chair of the Professional Standards Advisory Committee of the Bar Association at the International Criminal Court for two consecutive terms (2017-2019). He is a member of the Alumni Association of The Hague Academy of International Law and the French Society for International Law. He is also the author of several books and articles.

He is a former director of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the Lebanese University and holds the rank of professor. He teaches international law at the National University and at the Fouad Chehab School of the Lebanese Army Command and Staff, as well as being a lecturer in international law at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
