In-person training

Users of hazardous materials need to be aware of the hazards of the materials they are working with and how to respond to a spill. In most cases, users can safely clean up a spill themselves using a spill kit, but some circumstances require additional measures such as evacuation of a lab or specialized equipment and PPE. In this course, you will learn to determine if you should clean up a spill yourself, and how to do so using a basic spill kit.

Celebrate Safety Week and Emergency Preparedness Week by stopping by interactive fire prevention booth hosted by the Emergency Management team. Learn essential fire safety best practices and emergency preparedness tips through engaging conversations with experts. Participants will also experience hands‑on training using a laser fire extinguisher, allowing you to practice how to quickly and safely extinguish simulated fires on a screen. Build confidence, sharpen skills, and strengthen fire safety awareness in a fun, memorable way.

The Office of the Chief Risk Officer – Protection Services and Student Affairs – Wellness sector are presenting a seminar on fostering a culture of empathy, safety and wellbeing across campus.  This seminar, aimed at faculty, staff and volunteers, will feature insights on service mandates, trauma-informed awareness, de-escalation techniques, and available tools and resources.

CPR

Become a uOttawa Workplace First Aider: First Aid and CPR Level C (with AED) training

Tuesday and Wednesday May 5 and 6 | 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.English – Limited spaces available

This standard first aid and CPR (level C) course is designed for University of Ottawa workplace first-aiders. The course covers specific organizational practices, as well as applicable legislation, with time also set aside for practice. If you’d like to learn more about the University's first-aid program or want to volunteer as a workplace first aider, please contact [email protected].

Workplace first aiders are also required to attend an additional brief orientation session.
