Get to know Edwine Job

What was your last career move?

Before joining the University, I worked in the field of medical student assessment, where I was responsible for several examination products. The digital transformation initiative undertaken to manage these products better has generated significant interest in information technology. I visualized my understanding and a greater sense of belonging in this industry. I joined the university as a business analyst within the IT Solutions team. Now, I work as a Project and Solutions Manager for the uOttawa Card program (e.g. Business Cards, student and employee cards, U-Pass, etc.).

What contributed to its success?

The feeling of belonging to the University was a key element. I want to help make student life more rewarding. I cannot achieve these goals without being part of a fun and diverse environment and without the camaraderie of my colleagues.

What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in order to adapt to your new role?

Getting to know a new organization remotely due to Covid. The University is large and the IT team is large, and building relationships is one of the most important skills a business analyst must have to do their job. I had to adapt by connecting with my peers online.

What advice would you give to someone considering changing jobs?

Ask questions of an existential nature. It is important to learn about ourselves, know what fills our tank and what creates a spark within us, and understand our limits in what we can take on and do in our work.
