Did you know that as a recruiting employer, you could host an online information session to connect with uOttawa students and alumni?

How does it work?

Ten Thousand Coffees is a networking and mentoring platform that matches employers, alumni and students through networking opportunities that suit their career goals.

As an employer, you have the opportunity to create captivating information sessions and offer mentoring opportunities that can guide students and recent graduates along their career paths. By hosting information sessions via Ten Thousand Coffees, you can connect with qualified candidates within our student and alumni communities.

And you can tailor the way you connect, as well as your preferences, at any time to hone in on the candidates that best suit your needs.

Create your account

Sign up through the uOttawa Hub and personalize your profile by selecting the study program, industry, interests and goals you are looking for. Your answers will influence your matches.

Set up monthly introductions

You will be automatically smart-matched with another member on the University of Ottawa platform who shares your interests every four weeks. You can also browse the platform's member directory to search for other individuals that you may find interesting.

Busy? You can pause monthly introductions for a specific time and resume them at any time!

Host an online information session

Requests to host an online information session must be submitted through the platform using the “Office Hours” feature; we are currently not able to host in-person sessions. Once you have submitted your request, please allow five business days for our team to review and respond to your request.

Quick tips when hosting an information session

  • To get your online information session off the ground quickly, simply use Office Hours to select the timings and participant numbers and then use one of our templates with suggested titles, event descriptions, and engaging prompts to generate a meaningful experience.
  • Be sure to select your target audience by choosing the appropriate role, faculty, industry and language preferences. Invitations will automatically be sent to individuals who match those criteria.
  • Give your online information session a captivating title.
  • List any colleagues who will be joining you (they also need a Ten Thousand Coffees account).
  • Create a link to your online information session using the platform of your choice.

Additional information

After every online information session, you will receive a summary of valuable insights and knowledge gained by participants during the conversation.

Our team recommends waiting at least four weeks between sessions.
