Biography

Dr. Hanifeh Imanian is an adjunct professor of water resources engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa since 2022. Dr. Imanian received her PhD degree in Civil Engineering from the Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran in 2012. Her doctoral research entitled “Numerical Modeling of Vertical Dispersion of Oil Spill in Marine Waters” was focused on improving our understanding of the nature of oil fate and transport in the marine environment.

Dr. Imanian served as a faculty member and head of the Civil Engineering department in Iran for 10 years. She was awarded a sabbatical at the University of Ottawa in 2018 during which she had research collaborations with some professors which led to developing a project with the government on the application of artificial intelligence for the monitoring system of rail infrastructure.

Dr. Imanian’s research has resulted in the publication of more than 20 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. She also has over 15 years of experience in research and teaching and supervised or co-supervised more than 5 graduate students.
