Dr. Abdeen holds an academic appointment with the Faculty as Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology and has been an active radiologist at CHEO in the Department of Medical Imaging since 2010. He has served as Radiation Safety Officer and Fellowship program director of the department.
Dr. Abdeen is Section Head of Pediatric Radiology for the annual University of Ottawa radiology review course. His clinical interests are in pediatric neuroradiology, pediatric intervention, and radiation safety. His research interests are in advanced MRI applications in the pediatric brain including DTI, tumour perfusion, susceptibility weighted imaging and functional MRI.
A medical graduate from McGill University, Dr. Abdeen was a family physician for fifteen years prior to completing a residency in radiology at uOttawa in 2009, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Radiology at CHEO in 2010.
