Whenever students return to campus in the fall, everyone here can feel the excitement. Classes are starting, leaves will soon be changing colours and nights are getting cooler.
A campus is a lot like a small city, with many services. Here are some resources, tips and tools to both help you and let you help the students you meet.
Mental and physical health
Any change brings its share of emotions, positive and negative. The Employee and Family Assistance Program offers full-time mental health support for professors and staff by phone at 1-844-880-9142.
The new Student Health and Wellness Centre offers care focused on prevention, physical and mental health, and health promotion. The centre is reserved exclusively for students at the University of Ottawa and Saint Paul University.
Want to heat up your home-cooked dishes? Use the campus microwave ovens.
No time to make lunch? Discover where to eat on campus.
¿Dónde está la biblioteca?
Planning a meeting? Reserve a study space at the library.
If you require specialized materials, you can also borrow multimedia equipment there.
Do you know the Omni search tool? It’s ideal for finding good reference material.
Make sure to visit the Free Store to donate stuff you no longer use and get stuff that’s indeed free!
Are you passionate about the environment? The EcoNetwork offers monthly workshops on sustainable practices you can apply in your personal and professional lives.
The Office of Campus Sustainability, in collaboration with the uOttawa greenhouses, grows and restores plants, to offer them free to staff! Email the Office of Campus Sustainability.
If you’re a sustainable transportation enthusiast, use our exterior bike racks near every building, two secure enclosures, Bike Co-op and exterior cycling repair stations. You can also get around by e-scooter, e-bike, rollerblades and more. Staff have free access to showers! The LRT also stops at the Lees and main campuses. To travel between campuses, take the uOttawa shuttle. Car’s your only option? Try car sharing or carpooling!
Know about our campus sustainability guided tours? These group tours can be adapted to particular topics, such as transportation or green spaces, or just give you a general overview of campus green initiatives. For reservations, email the Office of Campus Sustainability.
